Foundation Awards Panel: applications for the reviewer pool

The Australian General Practice Research Foundation invites you to join our reviewer pool for the Foundation Awards Panel. By applying, you express your interest in contributing as a reviewer for grants, awards, and scholarships that support innovation in general practice research.

Panels are formed from this pool for each funding round and include at least three members. Serving as a panel member offers the opportunity to provide expert input, shape the future of general practice research, and engage with a diverse group of professionals and stakeholders.

Terms of Reference for the Foundation Awards Panel

Panel responsibilities

  • Reviewing, scoring and providing feedback on eligible applications and project change requests in accordance with the relevant program guidelines and selection criteria.
  • Participating in moderation discussions to reach consensus where required.
  • Making formal funding recommendations to the Foundation Committee for endorsement.
  • Providing feedback to inform future assessment rounds, design, or process improvements.
  • Supporting transparent eligibility assessment processes.

Essential criteria (must meet at least one)

  • General practice – Registered General Practitioner or GP registrar, with relevant experience working in general practice.
  • Academic research – Academic research qualifications with relevant research experience.
  • Consumer perspective – Experience as a consumer representative in health care or research.
  • Cultural knowledge – Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander individuals with recognised cultural knowledge and expertise.
  • Organisational insight – Experience working in the RACGP or the Foundation's funding partner organisations.

Desirable criteria (not mandatory but preferred)

  • Expertise or experience across multiple essential areas.
  • Experience assessing grants, awards or scholarships.
  • Understanding of research in general practice.

Application & panel participation

Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis. You will be notified if you are added to the reviewer pool, and you may choose to withdraw at any time by emailing foundation@racgp.org.au. If invited to join a Panel, you will receive an induction and details of the expected timeline, deliverables and honorarium*. Participation is entirely voluntary, and you may choose whether or not to accept a Panel invitation.

*RACGP employees completing assessment as part of their RACGP role and representatives of the Foundation’s funding partner organisations are not eligible to receive an honorarium, as their participation is considered part of their professional role or organisational commitment.

Using this form

On every screen (page of the form) you will find a Form Navigation contents box, this links directly to every page of the application. Click the link to jump directly to the page you want. You can also click 'next page' or 'previous page' on the top or bottom of each page to move forward or backward through the application.

If you wish to leave a partially completed application, press 'save' and log out. When you log back in and click on the 'My Submissions' link at the top of the screen, you will find a list of any applications you have started or submitted. You can reopen your draft application and start where you left off. You can also download any application, whether draft or completed, as a PDF. Click on the 'Download' button located at the bottom of the last page of the application form.

You will find a Review and Submit button at the bottom of the Navigation Panel. You need to review your application before you can submit it, by clicking on 'Submit' at the top of the screen or on the navigation panel. You will not be able to submit your application until all the compulsory questions are completed.

Once you have submitted your application, no further editing or uploading of support materials is possible. You will receive an automated confirmation email with a copy of your submitted application attached. This will be sent to the email you used to register.

If you do not receive a confirmation of submission email then you should presume that your submission has NOT been submitted.
