Foundation Awards Panel

Join the Foundation Awards Panel and help shape the future of Australian general practice!

The Australian General Practice Research Foundation invites you to join our reviewer pool for the Foundation Awards Panel. By applying, you express your interest in contributing as a reviewer for grants, awards and scholarships that support innovation in general practice research

Panels are formed from this pool for each funding round and include at least three members. Serving as a panel member offers the opportunity to provide expert input, engage with a diverse group of professionals and stakeholders, and support high-quality, transparent funding decisions that advance Australian general practice.

Panel responsibilities

  • Review, score and provide feedback on eligible applications and project change requests in accordance with the relevant program guidelines, selection criteria, and the Foundation’s strategic objectives and funding priorities.
  • Participate in moderation discussions to reach consensus where required.
  • Contribute to the panel’s formal funding recommendations to the Foundation Committee for endorsement.
  • Provide feedback to inform future assessment rounds, design, or process improvements.
  • Support transparent eligibility assessment processes.

Eligibility

Applicants should have expertise, experience, or knowledge in at least one, but ideally two or more, of the following areas:

  • General practice experience – General Practitioners or GP registrars.
  • Academic research – Holders of academic research qualifications with relevant research experience.
  • Consumer perspective – Experience as a consumer representative in health care or research.
  • Cultural knowledge – Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander individuals with cultural knowledge and expertise.
  • Organisational insight – Experience working in the RACGP or the Foundation's funding partner organisations.

Application & panel participation

Separate panels are convened for individual funding rounds or programs. Individuals may be appointed to more than one Panel across a funding program or calendar year, subject to conflict of interest requirements.

Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis. You will be notified if you are added to the reviewer pool, and you may choose to withdraw at any time by emailing foundation@racgp.org.au. If invited to join a Panel, you will receive an induction and details of the timeline, deliverables, and honorarium*, and you may choose whether or not to participate.

*RACGP employees and representatives of the Foundation’s funding partner organisations are not eligible to receive an honorarium, as their participation is considered part of their professional role or organisational commitment.
